A matching clock and barometer is the classic pairing on a bulkhead: the same case, the same dial, the same diameter, hung side by side. Every instrument below is one we stock, and each pair is genuinely from the same series and finish, so the two hang as a set rather than as two instruments that happen to be round.

Why buy a clock and barometer as a set

Makers design these instruments in families. A Schatz 1881 Royal clock and a Royal barometer share the same 180 mm case, the same bezel and the same dial typography; a Weems & Plath Endurance I 125 pair shares the flange mount and the 152 mm diameter. Buy them separately, a season apart, and you risk a changed finish or a discontinued case. Buying the pair at once also saves a second shipment.

Three practical points before you choose:

  • Match the diameter first. Two instruments of the same size read as a pair even from across the saloon; a 155 mm clock beside a 180 mm barometer never quite settles.
  • Match the finish, not just the metal. Polished brass, lacquered brass and chrome-plated brass all photograph as "brass" but sit very differently on a teak bulkhead.
  • Leave room between them. Allow at least half the case diameter of clear space, and mount them at eye height from the seat you actually use.

Adding a third instrument

Many of these series run to three or four pieces: a clock, a barometer and a comfortmeter or hygro-thermometer. A row of three at equal spacing is a traditional wheelhouse arrangement, and a mounting board in acacia or brass keeps the spacing right and lets you fit the whole row with four screws instead of twelve.

Advice before you order
